Nigeria midfielder, John Obi Mikel is close to another milestone with his London club, Chelsea.
Already earning his place as one of the longest serving players in the current Blues squad; second only to former England international, John Terry, Mikel in line to make his 250th Premier League appearance for the Blues as they take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.
The mark should have long been attained by Mikel but commitments with the Nigeria football team in Rio made the 29-year-old Mikel unavailable for selection in the games against West Ham, Watford and Burnley.
It is still not sure if Mikel will be in action this weekend with fears mounting of a possible knock following his substitution in the Eagles game against Tanzania last Saturday in an African Cup of Nations qualifier.
FCnaija.com understands that Mikel has since resumed training upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge but whether coach Antonio Conte will give him a run out against The Swans is yet to be seen.
Mikel’s Premier League scorecard at the moment shows that he has netted once in his 249 Premier League games, notched 11 assists, has been yellow carded 40 times, dismissed once and has an accumulated playing time of 16,245 minutes.
