Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed the modus operandi that exists between him and Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola.
While many think Iheanacho and Guardiola will be best of friends on and off the pitch, that turns out not to be the case as the Nigerian forward says he only talks with Pep on the pitch.
Iheanacho was even more detailed saying there was no form of discussion between him and Guardiola in the run to being given an improved contract by City.
“I think the only time I speak with him is on the pitch when we train,” said Iheanacho of his relationship with his manager last month. “I didn’t have a discussion before I signed my contract.
“The only time we talk is on the pitch.”
Regardless of the little time they talk together, Iheanacho is certainly learning fast from the former Barcelona and Bayern Coach.
The philosophy of Guardiola is already telling on Iheanacho’s game.
In only his second appearance under the new Manchester City manager which was against a stubborn Stoke City side, the change in his game was evident for all to see.
Now heading to the Manchester derby where he is likely to fill the void created by Sergio Aguero’s absence, Iheanacho will hop he can replicate his wonder goal against Jose Mourinho’s side this weekend.
